Landslide Disaster studies in Munsiyari, Bangapani, Dharchula and Tejam Tehsils of Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand

Abstract
District Pithoragarh is a remotest region of the Uttarakhand state where maximum losses of people and wealth during rainy season are due to landslides. Landslides study has been carried out in ten villages during the year 2020 and 2021 in Munsiyari, Bangapani, Dharchula and Tejam Tehsils in Pithoragarh district. It was found that during these two years in ten villages of Pithoragarh district, total 2594 people of 283 houses have been affected in which 21 persons and 13 domestic animals died during landslides. In the present paper different natural as well as man-made causes for landslides have been analyzed and security suggestions have also been given for minimizing landslides.
