Higher Education can play a very decisive role in the economic advancement of Kurdistan region of Iraq. Presently, there are nineteen private higher education institutions (HEI) operating within its borders. This region formally came into existence in 2004 and needs educated personnel to economically develop this region. The Kurdistan government vision of Higher Education is “Quality is the top priority”. Contemporary researches on this issue have articulated positively of private HEI in Kurdistan. In their view, private HEI are making students oriented and focused towards the education which can give the best to its economic advancement. HEI is also filling the gap between the quantity and the quality in education of Kurdistan economy. Hence, this paper reports on finding of a qualitative analysis of latest academic studies and policy documents on Kurdistan education and economic development by leading scholars. The overall aim of this inquiry was to determine in what ways private HEI are contributing constructively to Kurdistan’s economic advancement.
